The North Sea coast has always cast a spell over people: the vastness of the beaches, the play of the tides, the rugged charm of the sea. For many, St. Peter-Ording is a place of longing - for some, it is home. This is precisely where a special initiative was born in 2020: the Nordsee Kollektiv. Behind the collective are three friendly hoteliers and restaurateurs who want more than just to be hosts. They want to shape things - where it really counts: with the people who bring their hotels and restaurants to life, namely the employees.
Because as beautiful as the workplace may be - without motivated and well-supported employees, something crucial is missing. The Nordsee Kollektiv was therefore set up as a separate personnel company. It combines the StrandGut Resort, Beach Motel, Zweite Heimat, Diike and Die Insel businesses into a strong alliance. The goal: employees should not only feel good professionally, but also personally and be able to develop further.
This is achieved with a holistic concept that goes far beyond traditional personnel management. The collective offers a wide range of benefits that make living and working on the coast easier and more enjoyable in the long term: a modern crew house as staff accommodation, an in-house fitness studio for free use (the “Power House” in the Beach Motel), exclusive discount rates, and a range of other benefits.
“For example, in June, employees from all five Nordsee Kollektiv companies will go to Kiel Week together, including a big regatta cruise on a real paddle steamer,” says Alessia Mezzadonna, HR & Operations Manager at StrandGut Resort.
The Nordsee Kollektiv stands for a new way of working - personal, at eye level and with a real sense of community. The companies do not see themselves as competitors, but as partners with a common goal: to create the best working conditions for their employees. True to the motto: get up, get there, get ahead.
“St. Peter-Ording is a wonderful place to live and work. But too often it is not a place to stay for many people,” continues Alessia Mezzadonna. “We want to counteract this with our Nordsee Kollektiv and create an environment for everyone that encourages colleagues to not only stay here for a season or a few years, but also to fall in love with SPO in the long term.”
The offer is aimed at both career starters and experienced professionals - from the region or from further afield. Those who come to the coast should find more than just a job. The Nordsee Kollektiv offers space to grow, a network to settle in and a community that sticks together. Because the motto here is: Together we are more. Together is simply the sea.
