Lars Haider - Reading “Behind the horizon it goes on”

StrandGut cultural moments: On February 22, 2025, Spiegel bestselling author and Hamburger Abendblatt editor-in-chief Lars Haider will be joining us at the North Sea

Lars Haider, editor-in-chief of the Hamburger Abendblatt since 2011, is one of the journalists in Germany who knows Olaf Scholz better than almost anyone else. His book about the chancellor became a Spiegel bestseller in 2022. In the same year, his book “Das Phänomen Markus Lanz - Auf jede Antwort eine Frage” was published. Together with two friends, Haider hosts the wine podcast “Vier Flaschen” (Four Bottles), which appears every two weeks, and maintains a WhatsApp friendship with Udo Lindenberg. The first volume of his Lukas Hammerstein series, “Einer muss den Job ja machen”, was published by Hoffmann und Campe in 2023 and was enthusiastically received by readers and the press. “Hinterm Horizont geht's weiter” is now the third volume in the series.

About “Hinterm Horizont geht's weiter”:

This news hits Hamburg News like a blow: the old editor-in-chief is stepping down - and his successor seems hell-bent on turning the entire editorial team upside down. Suddenly, Lukas Hammerstein is to report on the city's rich, beautiful and powerful. Indeed, influential Hamburgers are happy to grant the reporter access to their homes - they show off what they have and invite him to an evening party with house music and culinary delights. But Hammerstein's hosts are having more and more fatal accidents - sometimes someone falls down the stairs drunk, sometimes someone crashes into a tree. Is it all coincidence? With dachshund Finchen and partner in crime Udo Lindenberg at his side, Hammerstein once again proves to have the right instinct.
